Law enforcement is a diverse duty, and people with autism are part of that diversity. On a daily basis we encounter a multitude of individuals in emergency situations. Just as each emergency differs from the next, so do the individuals involved, especially in regards to individuals with autism spectrum disorders.
Autism awareness is crucial in emergencies. Our mission here is to recognize the symptoms, respond and interact appropriately, ensure the safety of all involved, a...nd demonstrate support and awareness for those in our community.
April is World Autism Month.
Be sure to visit our website – www.franklinpd.org – Click on the Forms section and complete an Autism Emergency Information Form. Stop by and drop it off or email it back to us. (use internet explorer or download the form)
To show support for the members of our community with ASD, all of our patrol cars have a commemorative Autism Awareness magnet. The patch was designed to display the Autism Awareness Puzzle. The puzzle pattern reflects the complexity of the autism spectrum. The different colors and shapes represent the diversity of the people and families living with the condition. Our patrol vehicles will display the magnet during the month of April to show support and educate our community of the potential of people with autism!! #Lightitupblue #franklinpd
